Prof. Xiangdong He

Xiangdong He is a full professor of Southwest University, the Honors Director of ILI (From 2005 to 2016, he was the Director of ILI). He graduated as an M.Phil. from the Henan University in 1982. He was the Vice President of SouthWest Normal University (Now Southwest University), the first and second terms of  "academic pacesetter of Chongqing” in logic.  

In 1987, he has been promoted to an assoc. professor, and five years later (in 1992), he has been entitled a full professorship. Since 1992, he has supervised 98 Master students, 23 PhD students, 5 Post-Doctors, and been cooperated with 4 senior visiting scholars in China. 

Since 1992, he has visited many universities outside of China as a scholar, such as the Free University of Berlin, University of Paris, University of Alberta, University of Auckland, University of Sydney, and University of Melbourne, etc. 

Prof. He focused on the teaching of Logic and the teaching of Higher Education Management, the most distinguished award of Prof. He was the National Award for Outstanding Teachers of Higher Education in 2008. He also got a great academic achievement in research, such as in publications of papers, monographs, translations, etc, of which, more than 100 papers has been published on Chinese prestigious journals like Philosophical Investigations, Journal of Dialectics of Nature, Philosophical Trends, and so on. 

As a principal investigator, he has conducted close to 20 nationally and provincially funded projects, and he has got 20 prestigious awards on the research and teaching in Chongqing/China. For the past ten years (2005-2016), He, as the “senior academic pacesetter" of Southwest University and the academic leader of Logic, had a wonderful leadership of ILI. For instance, the ILI team has got a lot of awards on teaching and research like the course “Logic” has been awarded National Quality Course in 2005, Logic as a discipline has been awarded Key Discipline of Chongqing in 2006, ILI team has been awarded National Teaching Team in 2010, etc.
