He Xiangdong, born on July 24, 1948, in Chongqing, is a professor and doctoral supervisor at Southwest University. From 2003 to 2016, he served as the head of the doctoral program in logic, and from 2010 to 2016, he was the head of the doctoral program in philosophy. From 2005 to 2016, he was the director (currently honorary director) of the Southwest University Center for Logic and Intelligence. He was formerly the vice president of Southwest Normal University and a part-time doctoral supervisor at Soochow University. He was also the academic leader of the first and second sessions of the discipline (Logic) in Chongqing. He graduated from the Department of Political Science at Henan University with a master's degree in philosophy in September 1982, under the supervision of Professor Ma Pei, and was assigned to teach at Southwest Normal University.
From April 1985, he served successively as the deputy director of the Department of Political Science, deputy director, and director of the Academic Affairs Office. In January 1998, he became the assistant to the president, and from September 1998 to July 2005, he served as the vice president (enjoying the treatment of a deputy dean of Southwest University until 2010). From May 2000 to May 2003, he concurrently served as the dean of the Yuhuai College of Southwest University, and since January 2010, he has been the dean of the Yuhuai College of Southwest University (now renamed Chongqing College of Humanities and Sciences).
He was promoted to associate professor in 1987 and to professor in 1992. Since 1992, he has recruited a total of 98 graduate students (including 84 academic master's students and 14 vocational master's students), 23 doctoral students, 4 domestic senior visiting scholars, and 5 postdoctoral fellows.
From April to June 1995, he participated in the training of young and middle-aged cadres at the National Academy of Education Administration. Since 1992, he has visited and investigated more than ten universities worldwide, including the Free University of Berlin in Germany, the University of Paris in France, the University of Alberta in Canada, the University of Auckland in New Zealand, the University of Sydney, and the University of Melbourne in Australia.
Professor He Xiangdong has made fruitful achievements in teaching, scientific research, and educational management in the fields of logic and higher education management. He has published over 100 research papers in journals such as Philosophy Research, Philosophy Dynamics, Research on Dialectics of Nature, and university journals. He has published more than 20 monographs, textbooks, translations, reference books, and collections. He has hosted more than 20 provincial-level and national-level teaching and research projects, and has won more than 20 provincial-level and national-level teaching and research achievement awards, including three second-class national awards for outstanding teaching achievements (management category). As the academic leader of the philosophy discipline and the academic leader of logic at Southwest University, he has led the entire team to achieve a series of high-level teaching and research results: the course he is responsible for, "Logic," was rated as a national quality course in 2005, the logic subject was rated as a key discipline in Chongqing in 2006, and the logic teaching team was rated as a national-level teaching team in 2010. The logic subject led by him was approved as a doctoral program in 2003, the philosophy subject was approved as a postdoctoral mobile station in 2009, and the philosophy subject was approved as a doctoral program in 2011.
