“苏天辅教育基金”是根据苏天辅先生(中文简介)生前意愿,在西南大学教育基金会的倡导和指导下建立的,属于西南大学教育基金会下设的大师子基金项目。本基金为开放基金,接受政府、校友、同行、社会各界集体或个人的捐助。捐助的经费将全部并入基金本金,同时,将基金的全部收益用于奖励由苏天辅教育基金管理委员会评选出的个人。
依据苏天辅教育基金章程,目前基金主要奖励西南大学国家治理学院哲学专业特别是逻辑学专业的优秀全日制毕业生,以及与哲学和逻辑学专业相关的全国性学会专业委员会主办的会议或知名国际会议(如LORI)评审出的最佳学生论文获得者。
The “Su Tianfu Fund,” named in honor of the esteemed Chinese logician Su Tianfu (1922-2017), is a Master Sub-fund Project of the Southwest University Education Foundation. The fund welcomes donations from governments, alumni, colleagues, collectives, and individuals. All contributions are maintained as principal, with the annual interest generated being utilized for awards determined by the Su Tianfu Fund Committee.
According to the regulations of the Su Tianfu Fund, the primary beneficiaries are outstanding graduates in the field of philosophy, particularly logic, from the Philosophy Department of Southwest University. Additionally, the fund rewards students who present the best papers at recognized national or international academic conferences in philosophy and logic, such as LORI, with the Best Student Paper Prize.
A short biography of Prof. Su Tianfu:
Professor Su Tianfu (1922-2017), originating from Panyu, Guangdong, was admitted as a graduate student to the Philosophy Department of Tsinghua University in 1949, where he studied logic under the mentorship of Prof. Jin Yuelin (1895-1984). Upon graduating in 1952, he joined Northeast Normal University. In 1956, he transitioned to Southwest Normal University (now Southwest University), significantly contributing to the establishment and advancement of the philosophy department there. By 1981, he began supervising postgraduate students, enrolling 24 in that year, and in 1987, he was promoted to the rank of professor.
Throughout his tenure, Prof. Su held numerous significant roles, including Director of the Teaching and Research Section, Department Head, Director of the Research Center, School Councilor, and Director of the School's Liberal Arts Academic Committee. His contributions extended beyond his home institution as he served as an academic advisory member of the Chinese Society of Logic, President of the Logic Society of Sichuan, Director of the Sichuan Provincial Federation of Social Sciences, and as an academic member of the Jin Yuelin Academic Foundation, among other roles.
Prof. Su dedicated his career to the legacy of his mentor, Prof. Jin Yuelin, and the fields of logic and philosophy at Southwest University. He gained renown for his efforts in popularizing logic and pedagogy; since 1984, his logic courses have been broadcasted by the Open University of China, reaching over 800,000 students annually. In recognition of his academic contributions and teaching excellence, the State Council of China awarded him special government allowances beginning in 1992.
Prof. Su’s impact on the development of logic and philosophy in China was profound, evidenced by his influential perspectives on various philosophical and logical issues, and his role in nurturing a new generation of scholars. Notably, his students, including Prof. Zou Chongli, the former president of the Chinese Society of Logic, have made significant contributions to the contemporary logic community.
